Journalist Visit to Classroom

On Thursday, 17 May we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Perras to GESS Main Campus to speak to our Grade 9 and 10 students about his work as a journalist correspondent for the Sueddeutsche Zeitung (SZ). He provided highly engaging and interesting insights to his work, with particular focus on how newspaper feature articles and breaking news stories are produced and structured. It was great to see our students engage in lively discussions with Mr Perras to get the most out of this opportunity. It was also particularly interesting to hear about how Mr Perras manages to integrate specific perspectives into his writing, as this was one of the concepts that students had to learn and reproduce in their end-of-unit assessment task (see outputs for Grade 9 and Grade 10). We would like to thank Mr Perras for taking time out of his extremely busy work schedule and for sharing his invaluable experiences with our students.
