Together with the celebration of Europe Day, many events took place this week, that our school participated in. Many of our students were actively involved in these events. I would say that the highlight was the opening ceremony of the European Union Film Festival at the National Gallery Singapore on 10 May. Our students and the GESS Marketing Department also contributed to its great success. Do not forget to see one or more movies shown during the festival.
All good things are worth waiting for: the Senior Management Team (SMT) approved the Inclusion Policy, which supports diversity, on 8 May and forwarded it to the G&A Sub-committee. I hope that the board will then approve it in the board meeting in June 2018 so that we can work with this in the next school year. It was a lot of work to create this document and continuously adapt it to recent developments. Thank you very much to Oliver Guenter and his team. I am very much looking forward to support your children in an even more purposeful way.
The written exams of the IB Diploma are ongoing until next week while the oral Abitur exams in the German Section are just being prepared and will start on 21 May. Ms Bauni from the ‘Kultusministerkonferenz‘ KMK will be the chairperson of the exams. On this occasion it will also be possible to discuss topics about school development in Germany with the KMK representative.
I would like to thank all teachers who supported us during the exam period, and will continue to do so, by marking, examining, keeping minutes and supervising the exams as well as taking over covers and helping to prepare our students and enabling them to take their exams in a very professional manner.
The Parents Networking Night will take place at Picotin Express on Thursday, 17 May at 7pm. It would be nice if you were to come to this event.
I wish you and your family a nice week.
