Football: No doubt it’s rainy season in Singapore and consequently some of last week’s football games had to be postponed when the lightning alarm went off. Our 14U boys in Division 2 could only play one half against St. Joseph’s but the 4:2 halftime score stands and will count. Meanwhile, our Team B in Division 3 faced a very strong opponent from Singapore American School and also our girls’ Team A got defeated in their season opening game (3:4 against United World College).
Basketball: Rainy season? Well, it rained three-pointers in our sports hall last Monday, when our 19U boys played against Chatsworth. After a nervous start, our boys readjusted from Downtown Land and flew off to a 53:22 victory. The season debut of the 16U boys was less successful. The young GESS team fought well but could eventually not overcome the much taller opponents from Global Indian School.
Badminton: The 11U girls’ team got off to a flying start with a hard-fought 4:1 victory over United World College East. This is the girls' inaugural season in the ACSIS league and Coach Mark Pocklington was very proud of their performance and the fantastic achievement. He praise them for their never-say-die attitude, especially when coming back in one doubles match from one set down. Well done, girls!
Volleyball: Our 14U boys lost a tough but close match-up against the Canadian International School with 1:2 sets.
