Our GESS sports teams played a spectacular and immensely exciting ACSIS Season 1 Final’s Week. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches involved!
Football: Gold for GESS! Our 19U girls won Wednesday’s final against Canadian International School with a score of 3:0. We would like to say “well done!” to Coach Thomas Teichert and his team! Meanwhile, the 16U football boys topped off a spectacular performance in ACSIS’ top division. A nail-biting penalty shoot-out secured the win over Tanglin Trust School and, thus, bronze medals. The 19U boys, however, had a rough week. First, they were absolute unlucky in the semi-final, losing in penalties, and then they suffered a 0:2 defeat in their game for third place against United World College Dover. The 9U Finals all took place on Saturday. Results and photos will be published next week.
Badminton: The 14U badminton boys delivered a really amazing performance during the semi-finals on Monday. 4 out of the 5 games were only conclusive in the third set. Eventually, our boys came through with 3 to 2 points against Chatsworth International School and faced Canadian International School in the finals. The girls team played well in their last season match and managed to overcome Tanglin Trust School with a score of 3:2. GESS finished in 5th place in this division.
Volleyball: The 16U girls team finished off Season 1 successfully and won against Australian International School in straight sets. This secured their 7th place in ACSIS Division 1.
Basketball: Our 19U boys team played their first friendly last week in order to prepare for the upcoming ACSIS Season 2. Coach Melvin was happy with what he saw, despite a close 63:71 loss against Prodigy Club.
Cross Country: Last Thursday, the ACSIS Cross Country Championships were held at Bedok Reservoir. Our Junior School Campus (JSC) Running Club took part with all 48 runners and delivered great results across all age groups. The 10U girls team even won bronze medals. This year, GESS could also send a small but mighty team from Middle School. Anna-Lena Pestinger, Carla Schmid and Kjartan Rethfeldt represented GESS in the 3000m run in an exemplary fashion.
