Our GESS school teams completed the regular ACSIS Season 1 successfully and are now heading into the play-offs (see “Upcoming Sport Events”).
Football: The GESS 19U girls team was relentless in the final regular season game and defeated Chatsworth International School with an astounding 8 to 1 goals. They are now fully focused on their gold medal match against Canadian International School on Wednesday (1 November, 2017). Likewise, both our 16U and 19U boys teams are also preparing for the play-off games. With no more league games last week, they instead played friendlies against our Korean neighbors from Singapore Korean International School.
Badminton: Monday was a big badminton day at GESS. The traditionally strong racket sport school Yuvabharathi International challenged us in two exciting and highly contested matches. Both 14U teams played side by side and supported each other well. Eventually, our girls team was defeated while our boys team celebrated a win. They will be going against Chatsworth International School during the upcoming semi-finals on Monday.
Cross Country: On Wednesday, the Junior School Cross Country team attended an invitational run held at MacRitchie Reservoir. There were 45 boys and girls representing GESS with a large parental following too. We had some fantastic results – Elizabeth Perry (9U girls) in 5th place, Sarah Facino (12U girls) in 3rd place, Kaelen Dekan (12U boys) in 3rd place and Niklas Grapow (9U boys) in 2nd place. Our young athletes are now eagerly anticipating the ACSIS Cross Country Championships next Thursday.
