Our school teams were once again out and about last week, competing against a variety of schools with great success.
Football: The 9U boys’ team won all three games at our Junior School Campus (JSC) home tournament with scores of 4:1 against Tanglin Trust School, 6:2 against Swiss School and another 6:2 victory against International Community School. The girls were victorious in their first game against United World College (3:0) but a strong Tanglin team beat them with a score of 3:1.
Volleyball: The first medal for GESS this year! Our 19U girls won both their remaining season games last week and secured bronze medals in Division 2. Congratulations girls for an outstanding performance in this short but intense and highly competitive season! Meanwhile, our 19U boys’ team defeated UWC East in four strong sets and secured their second win this season.
Badminton: The 14U teams were a bit short-numbered last week with some of the players being away on class trips. Nonetheless, both teams represented our school in an exemplary manner and with a relentless fighting spirit. The boys even managed to overcome Tanglin in a tough and long match that ended with a score of 3:2 for GESS.
Cross Country Running: On Wednesday, the Primary School sent a Cross Country team to the UWCSEA Invitational at Bedok Reservoir. 35 GESS students competed in the races with great success. Olivia Emmett finished in 3rd place, Ellie Perry in 4th place and Kaelen Dekan came in 7th. Many of our other students were ranked within the Top 20 - a fantastic achievement considering the large group of young athletes who participated.
