"GESS is a great school because it is a school “by the parents and the teachers, for the children”. We are very happy with the school. They are constantly trying to improve in order to offer the best possible education to the children and they take all issues seriously. Our children are happy to go to school every day and they did not even want to go on holidays as they would be missing school. We never thought such a thing would be possible! The children also appreciate the school’s innovative curriculum and its numerous playground."

"Being taught in an environment such as GESS International School, which prides itself in its diversity and respect of other cultures and ideas, I now have a new and unique outlook of the world, and a much stronger sense of identity relating to the people around me."

"The atmosphere in the school is great and children are taught values like diversity, openness and respect. The teachers are also very capable; last year my son Gabriel had an English teacher who taught him to speak English and he actually has an English accent now! His teacher also taught him how to meditate and calm down when he got too agitated. As for Marina, the teachers have been very patient with her and know how to deal with her. And they create a very positive environment for the kids by, for example, playing a lot of music in class."

"Asa is in his second year at GESS (K1) and he’s attending the IB (English) track. We first learned about the school from our neighbours; there are a lot of kids in our area who attend. When we visited, we were not only impressed with the fabulous facilities but also the curriculum and the culture of the school. German is offered as a second or third language. The preschool offers a good mix of what I (Miyuki) am familiar with being Japanese, and also for my husband as an American.

Asa really enjoys school life at GESS. The school provides a variety of activities. We were impressed by the ‘end to end project’ where students learn to work together to plan, make decisions and execute their ideas as a team. Cooking, art, sports and music conducted by specialist teachers also offer great fun for the children. Asa’s teachers provide regular updates to us parents about how he is doing and the current focus of the class. This allows us to feel involved in his education and be more supportive outside the classroom. We also like the concept of ‘play to learn’ to build teamwork skills that kids will require when they grow up.

We’re also very happy with the effort by the school to create a community for parents, which is more important now than ever given COVID precautions. We’d definitely recommend the school to other families, with its international community and high-quality and new facilities."

"I’ve been attending GESS for the past 11 years. What I like best about the school is how they treat learning and how this fosters independence in us as we study. The school also promotes many different cultures and helps us to be internationally minded!"

"This is my final year at GESS. There’s never been a dull moment during my time at the school, from work experience at the Singapore Committee for UN Women to community service in Cambodia and India. Every year brings new excitement, discovering new subjects, reviewing past lessons and even the simple act of bonding with my peers and teachers. I know I’ll look back at my years of schooling with fondness and appreciation for all the knowledge I gained and relationships I formed.

As someone who wants to pursue law, I feel that GESS has given me a big leg up for my future aspirations. I was given the opportunity to study subjects such as history and English at a level that pushed my intellectual capabilities and furthered my analytical and written skills.

Additionally, I was able to continue studying both English and German at a mother tongue level. The highlight of my year was being able to co-host the European Union Film Festival 2019 in Singapore. The wide outreach GESS has in Singapore, in terms of influence and reputation, allows us students to take advantage of so many opportunities."

"GESS is a great school because teachers are able to identify students’ talents and give them opportunities to grow, and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone. My daughter is the vice president of Sports Council now and it only happened because her teacher noticed she had the abilities and nudged her towards applying. She took on the role knowing she had nothing to fear, and that she had teachers and peers who fully supported her.

It’s definitely less stressful when you know your child is well taken care of in school and has mentors there!"

"GESS has always given importance to the holistic development of children by acknowledging the fact that both mind and body work optimally when the bellies are happy and the mind intrigued and challenged with a relaxed environment in their classrooms. The teachers bring the best out of the kids – and the canteens really keep their bellies happy!

The school’s current location is also surrounded by serene nature parks and greenery. The indoor sports hall and facilities are accessible all year round, regardless of the weather conditions outdoors. The library and design and technology studios are impressive – they make you wish you were a kid again."

"The school promotes a sense of wellbeing and connection, which I greatly enjoy. The counselling role enables me to provide our community with care and support whenever it’s needed. Students at our school know that, if they have a concern, there is a teacher or counsellor who is willing and able to listen to their needs.

There are so many wonderful moments working with students that it’s hard to pick just one. Whether it’s helping a primary student learn techniques to regulate their own emotions or hearing a high school student tell me I’ve helped them feel at home at school, there’s never a day that passes without a shared memory being created."

"The GESS IB Curriculum has benefitted me in ways that I’ll always be thankful for. It teaches me to focus on my strengths while also bringing my attention to my weaknesses. I’ve learnt how to deal with weaknesses and grow my strengths through them. I joined GESS in Kindergarten and since then, I’ve been a part of a curriculum that has pushed me to be a student of many subjects, and a better person and global citizen. In short, studying at GESS and the IB curriculum has enriched my learning and I know it’ll continue to do so."

"The school has a great post GESS program, with the university guidance counselors both german and English speaking has definitely helped me in my choices for the future. The university guidance program has me prepared for when I leave, from housing, life skills (cooking, paying bills, etc.) to apply to university. The university guidance counselors will be there throughout the end of your years at GESS, from before you graduate to after you graduate. They will constantly be there to support applications and guide you on how to approach these applications.

Post GESS, I could not decide what I wanted to do. With the support of the university counselors, I was able to find a life suited for me post GESS. I will be moving to Germany for further studies, attending university for a bachelor's course to become a Physiotherapist. I am confident with this decision as I have been guided and supported by my teachers, especially the university guidance counselor.

I would highly recommend GESS as they have an amazing educational program structure. The teachers are constantly supporting you in improving or strengthening their skills and knowledge. With the diverse culture of the faculty and students at GESS, you build infinite relationships with those around you. With the number of facilities, GESS is able to tailor the program to fit your needs depending on what aspect you need to improve or which aspects you thrive in. It is definitely a school full of activities, positive energy and each day will help you grow. Everyone in the school wants the best for you and will do anything they need to to help you succeed in whatever it is during your time at GESS or post GESS."

"Being a student at GESS for the past 13 years has really been an adventure and a great journey for me that I will never forget. Throughout the years I have had the chance to meet many inspiring and different individuals, that have helped shape me become who I am today. At GESS I've acquired many new skills such as confidence, independency and team work. The German curriculum has benefited me in so many ways through its variety of subjects and social projects. The teachers at GESS have always guided and helped us on our school journey in all situations and I will always be thankful for their support and shared knowledge with us."

"The school and its community were such a huge part of my life and have truly shaped me into who I am today. I am also grateful to have had the opportunity to study in German, knowing that my German language skills would have otherwise deteriorated, as I speak English to my friends and almost everybody else here in Singapore. The experiences I have made and the things I have learned, from Kindergarten all the way to Grade 12, will always remain a part of me. I am very grateful for the outstanding and dedicated teachers that have taught and shaped me."

"GESS brings many nations together under the same roof. It is a contemporary school that is open to new methods and approaches, successfully integrating technological means in daily studies. Its sense of social duty is rather high and there are a number of social projects throughout the academic year that widely involve GESS students, thereby sensitising pupils to social topics around the world. Both of my children have also become more self-confident. They are motivated to learn English. And of the special highlights for them is the wind instrument class, which has sensitised my daughter to the importance of team work."
