Learning

Toddler Groups

Age: from 18 months (by 31 July)

Learning Approach

Language of instruction is English and German.

Our programme offers children the opportunity to take developmentally appropriate risks in a safe environment. It also enables children to learn more about their identity as well as how to form new relationships. Our educators guide the children in developing first friendships and understanding feelings that stem from these connections.

Toddlers partake in sensory explorations through paint, sand, clay and spatial explorations as they are invited to run, crawl, jump in the intentionally designed learning spaces.

 Exploratory Learning

During this time, the children are invited to explore their world, formulate thoughts, share ideas and construct meaning through play. Learning may occur inside or outside, with explorations even extending into the shared pod spaces. Educators carefully observe the children in order to incorporate each child's interest and ideas into the learning experiences designed by our expert faculty.

Morning Meeting

Each morning, the children begin their day together. This is a moment to create a community of learners as each child develops social and communication skills. The children sing songs, listen to stories, discuss their ideas and feelings while building on the ongoing learning occurring in the group.

Playground

The playground offers ample space for running and playing in the sandbox. They can also ride tricycles, and play in the water area.

Specialised Learning

As a Preschool that embraces "The 100 Languages of Children," specialised learning is a valued centerpiece to each child's learning journey. During music, children create connections between their ongoing interests and sounds, dances, and rhythms. In sports, the children balance, run, and jump. Through the language of art, children craft their ideas into tangible, visual products.

Reflection

After a morning of learning and shared experiences, this final reflection provides children with the opportunity to internalise their experiences with support and guidance from our trained educators. This final moment of the day also allows for children to come together one last time, building the sense of community valued by the school.

The children will be picked up at your home and brought back safely to your doorstep every day or to the nearest possible pick up point around your house. In addition, the school bus service also offers home drop-off after the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). Registration for bus service can be done directly upon school registration, but is possible at any other time as well.

Like all schools in Singapore, GESS has a dress code. Students are to remain in school uniform for the entire school day, when on campus after school, as well as, during school trips, unless taking part in a CCA that requires a specific alternative attire.

All items of the GESS uniform are embroidered with the GESS logo. The full uniform is available at the GESS school shop.
