All GESS students in grade 1 to 8 have 1 lesson (45min) of English per day. There are 3 different English levels taught and students get placed in the appropriate English class based on their English language level when joining GESS:

Level 1: Beginner (English as a Foreign Language - EFL, Grade 1-8)

Level 2: Intermediate (English Intermediate Level - EIL, Grade 1-5)

Level 3: Native (English Near Native - ENN, Grade 6-8)

Students from grade 6 to 12 can choose French as their second language choice. French mother tongue level is also offered for an additional fee.

For native or near-native French speakers, GESS offers a language programme after-school for students in grades 1 to 5.

Spanish

Students from grade 6 to 12 can choose Spanish as their second language choice.

Latin

Students from grade 6 to 10 can choose Latin as their second language choice.

Other Languages

A range of mother tongue languages can be chosen as an optional afternoon language class from grade 1 to 5 in Primary School.

The languages are practiced in a weekly 90-minute language enrichment programme (LEP) after school through fun and interactive language-focused activities.
