Founders Day

Sat 25 Sep 8:00am

The GESS Founders Day event was the perfect occasion for us to look back at 50 years of GESS and remember and celebrate the many notable individuals who have set the foundations for the school. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we could host no more than 50 people at the physical event but we were joined by many others via livestream (see below for recording). We were honoured to be joined in the celebrations by Ambassador Dr. Norbert Riedel, our President of the Board, Ms. Rachel Ward, our new principal, Mr. Pauli, and many long-time staff of GESS.

It was also a privilege to receive birthday messages from Minister of Foreign Affairs for Singapore, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan and German Ambassador to the Court of St James's Andreas Michaelis.

Through student performances in the form of drama, renditions of songs and music from the various decades, we travelled back in time and revisited 5 different decades. Delightfully, we heard personal anecdotes, reflections and messages from students, alumni, former leaders of GESS and parent representatives, all of which helped us understand what these 50 years of GESS have looked like.
