Senior Leadership Team

The GESS Senior Leadership Team consists of the Principal, the Academic Director and the General Manager. The Academic Director and the General
Manager report to the Principal. The Senior Leadership Team functions as the decision making body for the whole school to ensure the school’s mission, vision and strategic educational and organisational goals are achieved.

Stefan Pauli

Principal of GESS

Education:
1st and 2nd state examination for teaching at Secondary School level in the subjects of Social Sciences and PE at the University of Cologne, 2nd state examination for vocational education in the subject of Economics at RWTH Aachen University.

Work experience and professional focus:

Stefan Pauli was Principal of the Walter-Eucken-Schule in Karlsruhe for seven years and managing Principal of the vocational school of the city of Karlsruhe for 5 years before joining GESS in 2021. Prior to that, he lived in Hong Kong for eight years and was not only Head of the vocational branch at the German Swiss International School in Hong Kong, but played a significant role in building up the vocational department.

Earlier stations took him first to Cologne and Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia for his studies, to Wittenberge in Brandenburg for his first teaching job and later to Cottbus, where he relatively quickly became Head of Department at the Kaufmännisches Oberstufenzentrum.

To Mr Pauli it is very important that the school nurtures the community thinking. All school community members - students, teachers, administration staff and other staff members should support, appreciate and trust each other. This also applies to parents. There is a zero tolerance for bullying at his school and conflicts should be solved where they occur. Mistakes are part of the learning process. However, one should learn from their mistakes so that they will not be repeated.

Mr Pauli trusts his staff, who are as experts in their field responsible for their department, and is happy to assist where support is needed to further develop GESS, which is one of the top schools for European languages in Singapore. The focus lies on the aspect of Academic Excellence; each student should achieve their best individual academic result at GESS according to his/her own abilities.
