A full IB diploma candidate must complete three subjects at higher level and three subjects at standard level. For each subject, up to seven points are available. This is therefore a total of 42 points. Three further points are available for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, making a maximum of 45 points. The CAS programme must also be completed. In general, a total of 24 points is required for the IB Diploma to be awarded (though there are a number of specific further criteria that must be met).

All subjects include an element of coursework or Internal Assessments (IAs), which contribute to the final grade. Usually these IAs represent about 20-25% of the final grade, though in some languages and arts subjects this tends to be higher.

Students are examined through external examinations at the end of the two years in May. Students are able to resit exams up to a maximum of three times over two years if required.

Internally, the school requires students to sit internal examinations at the end of each semester as well as mock exams a few months before the final assessments. In this way, students are very well prepared for their IB exams.

Throughout the two years, students receive regular reports. At each mid-semester point, students receive detailed written reports that include grades as well as comments on strengths, weaknesses and strategies to improve. These reports are followed by parent interviews where the reports can be discussed. At the end of each semester, students receive a grade sheet that includes their semester grade and exam grade. In this way, parents and students are kept well informed about progress and achievements.
